design approach. What this means is we do both at the same time the
top-down helps keep our focus and allows us to communicate the progress to
the customer. The bottom-up reduces risk by partially developing the
identified area of risk to the point of proven feasibility, then
integrated the partial solution back into the top-down side to re-adjust
the scope and focus. Build into this approach is the art of knowing
how much generic design to build into a project. To much generic
design never converges to a completed project, to little generic design
and the project may miss its schedule and run over budget due to
inefficient re-design. |
